Mud Cookies

MUD COOKIES
(Amish-Country Cookbook)

Ingredients:
2 c. of sugar
1/4 c. ( 1/2 stick) of butter
4 T. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
3 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Equipment:
Saucepan
Wooden spoon
Stove top
Refrigerator

1. Boil sugar, butter, cocoa, and milk on the stove for 1 minute. (or until boiling)
2. Then add oats, peanut butter, and vanilla.
3. Drop on cookie sheet and refrigerate until set.
4. ENJOY!! :)

Easy, huh? One thing you have to do is when you drop them on the cookie sheet, you have to quickly because if the dough is left setting it gets dry and you can't roll it into balls. If this happens, just add about a tablespoon of water- not much.

Peppermint-Sugar Cookies

I'm sorry people that I haven't posted in a while, but, you know its super busy because of the holidays...

PEPPERMINT-SUGAR COOKIES

Ingredients:
1 stick butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. or so of Ande's peppermint chips

If you look back in my blog archive, i have this recipie in it. You just basically follow that recipie but put the peppermint chips. I made these cookies and the dough tasted HORRIBLE. It tasted more like bread dough than cookie dough. The outcome of the cookies when they were done baking tasted just fine, and i have no idea why, but everyone liked them. I think i didn't use enough sugar.
Overall they were great.

Dog Treats

DOG TREATS
(The Greatest Cookies Ever pg. 61)

Ingredients:
3 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. of cooking oil
1/4 c. molasses
2 2/3 c. Whole-wheat flour

Equipment:
Large Mixing bowl
Mixer or wooden spoon
(Note: This mixture is so thick it would be next to impossible to mix it by hand or with a wooden spoon.)
Flat surface
Rolling pin
Cookie cutters
Greased cookie sheets

1. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees
2. Mix the wet indgredients together
3. Add flour to wet mixture. Mix well on low speed. The dough is stiff and making it is a real workout if you mix it by hand.
4. Roll out dough and cut shapes.
4. Bake for 30 minutes.
5. Allow to cool before feeding to your pet. For crunchy cookies, turn the oven OFF but leave them inside of the oven for another 30 minutes.
6. Give them to your dog!

(Note: Do not feed your pet more than 2 of these a day.)

I was very suprised how much my dog actually loved it- and its healthy too! I gave some to my Grandma's dog and he liked them too. I'll definatly be making these again.

Introduction

My name is Adi and I'm 13 years old. I love cooking, and to get started I will share my most favorite recipie:

SUGAR COOKIES
(The Greatest Cookies Ever)
Ingredients:
1 stick of softened butter
3/4 sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. of vanilla
1 1/2 cups of flour
1/4 tsp. of salt

Equipment:
Measuring cups and spoons
2 greased cookie sheets
Large mixing bowl
Small mixing bowl
Mixer or fork
Flat surface
Plastic wrap
Flour
Rolling pin
Cutting tools

1. Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees.
2. Cream the butter and sugar in the large mixing bowl.
3. Add the egg and vanilla to the creamed butter and sugar. Blend well,.
4. Mix dry ingredients in small mixing bowl. (I don't usually do this, because I see it as pointless
to dirty another bowl just to mix the flour and tiny bit of salt.) Add to the large bowl.
5.Chill the dough for 15 minutes. (You don't have to do this, but I would
if you're planning on cutting the dough into shapes. It will be more
stiff and easier to work with.)
6. Place in oven and bake for 8-10 minutes. (Watch them carefully.
they burn very easily.)
7. Allow them to cool before you decorate or eat them.
8. ENJOY! :)

Sometimes I make a simple frosting to put on them, made out of a stick or so of butter, about a teaspoon of vanilla flavoring, about a tablespoon of milk, and after you mix those well, add enough powder sugar until it begins to look and taste like frosting. If you would want colored frosting add VERY little of food coloring. Trust me- a little bit goes a long way.

I usually double this recipie, because there is not much dough from this recipie, and if you have a big family like mine, there may not be enough.

This is my favorite recipie because everyone loves them. They're usually gone within 5 minutes after I make them.
